When should university students start planning their careers?
University students are too busy studying to think about applying for internships, exchange opportunities or work experience. They often leave it till after the exams when most of the opportunities have been taken or expired. Often students leave career planning for after they have completed their degree altogether. This puts them in a less favourable position as compared to those who have made use of career development opportunities throughout their academic life.
"two-thirds of employers say they would be more likely to hire a student with work experience than one with none, and for students without financial support the academic holidays are the perfect time to work or gain work experience"
